First of all, let’s talk about the fact that February is already over and it’s now March. What the actual fuck? How was your New Year’s Eve/Day? How was your Valentine’s Day? Good, I hope! Mine were. Thanks for asking. 😉
I’ve had a pretty good start to the year, actually. Not as organized as I’d like it to be, but that’s due to my lack of self-discipline and poor time-management skills. I know; I’m working on it. It’s a goal of mine, okay? Anywho, let’s get onto the real reason for this post, shall we? Without further ado, I present to you (in no particular order) my favorite nouns of January and February of 2016.
Revlon “Love is On” Perfume
I recently subscribed to Alex of LearningToBeFearless and have become obsessed with her videos. In one of them she mentions buying this perfume and when I saw it on sale at Target, I decided to try it. My hair was smelling pretty gnarly that day because I had gotten Mexican food with some ladies from work on my lunchbreak, and we were sitting right next to the kitchen. ::[Babbling]:: Long story short, I sprayed some on my hair and loved it. It’s so different from anything I would normally wear, especially going into spring, but I think it’ll be a good change. Shane said he liked it, too, and he also noted that it’s very different for me. Gotta love when even your husband notices a change in your perfume. $20 well spent!!
ASICS® Women’s GEL-Excite™ 3 Running Shoes
Shane and I got serious about going to the gym and getting our health back, so new shoes were an absolute must. Shane’s were old and beat up, and mine were old and holey. Shane’s only stipulation was some arch support and wide width. Mine stipulations were a bit more specific. I needed shoes that had a very high arch support and the heel had to be elevated. Aside from the damage that my weight does to my feet alone, I have incredibly high arches and because I tend to wear shoes with little to no arch support, my arch is crushing in on itself from the top down. It’s as painful as you imagine, but it’s feeling better thanks to these shoes. After doing research, I knew it would come down to Asics or Brooks. Adidas were what I was using for a long time (since I was a junior in high school), but the price for their Supernovas was more than we could stomach. Plus, the alternative brands were just as recommended. They ended up being a Valentine’s gift to me from me.
N.Y.C. New York Color High Definition Liquid Eyeliner
I’ve been a fan of their eyeliner ever I got their Big Bold & Precise Felt Tip Eyeliner in an Influenster box a few months ago. Having oily skin, I have a hard time finding eyeliner that will stay on without transferring to my lids. Especially when I’m not wearing lid primer because I’m not trying to do a full face for just everyday. I found their HD Liner at Target and thought I’d give it a shot, because I was becoming less capable of achieving the look I was attempting with the other. They use the same formula in both liners and I can’t say I will realistically buy any other liquid liner for everyday use because this one works so well.
ASUS Transformer Book Flip 2-In-One Notebook PC
Hubby surprised me with this as an early Valentine’s gift back in February because I was constantly complaining about how slow my old laptop was. Funny story: we had a phone argument about how I didn’t need a laptop that transformed into a tablet, and that if he wanted it so bad, he could get it for himself. When I finally got home later that evening, he was standing in the living room with the box in his hand and of course I felt like shit. Since then, I’ve discovered how wonderful the feature is and I don’t know how I ever lived without the touchscreen, so he was right. And amazing for buying me a laptop just because. I mean, who does that? I still can’t believe it. He’s truly the best.
I’ve been using PicMonkey since December (when I paid for a year membership because I forgot to cancel it), but in the last two months I have created a bridal shower invitation, a wedding invitation, and a wedding card, among my major projects. It’s not Photoshop by any means, but what it can do is incredible. I’m still learning what it can do as far as photo editing, but I am so busy creating on it that I am just having so much fun in the mean time.
YouTubers Alex and Rachel
I will go more in-depth on my love for each of these lovely ladies in a different blog post, but for now, just suffice it to say that their personalities rock and they’re makeup ladies! Plus they’re gorgeous and seem like so much fun to hangout with.
bubba 16 oz HERO grip bottle
I got this as a Secret Santa gift back in December and have been using it religiously ever since. It says it keeps drinks hot for something up to six hours or so. I don’t know about that, but I do know that it does keep my daily coffee hot until I finally get the chance to drink it which is usually about an hour to an hour and a half after I brew it. Regardless, at less than $15 for a 16 oz bottle that keeps drinks legitimately hot for hours, I don’t think you can ask for anything better. And I’ve tried a few.
Molded Underwire Sport Bra
Although I don’t always agree with everything they say or do, Lane Bryant has the monopoly on intimates as far as I’m concerned. That includes sport bras. I have one that I got a few months ago from a friend that she never used (before LB’s “Livi Active” was a thing) and while I love it, I can’t survive in just one sport bra. This has great lift and support while also looking modern (if not a little drab thanks to the all black).
Epson Expression Home XP-320 Small-in-One® All-in-One Printer
Holy crap I love this printer. I have only used the print function (not the scanner or copier yet), but the quality is incredible and setup is super easy. Plus, hello wireless printing. Epson is known for their quality printers so I was super excited to find this on sale just before Christmas; especially because it was paid for all with gift cards I’d gotten. Ink seems to be pretty inexpensive but I haven’t had to replace the cartridges that it came with yet, because I don’t print much right now and I am super stingy with what gets printed and what doesn’t. Too bad I can’t be like that with my own money.
Pink Fluffy Slippers
This one might seem silly, but I promise it’s not. About two or three weeks after New Year’s Day, Kristin and I were walking around Target when I spotted the bright pink fluffy treasures on the shoe clearance rack. First, they were pink; my favorite color. Second, they were my size. Third, THEY WERE $3!!! I knew immediately that I needed them (and I knew Shane would agree so I would stop stealing his), and I am not lying when I say I wear them at LEAST once a day. It seems like such a no-brainer to have some fluffy slippers, but now that I have some again, I don’t know what I ever did without them. It makes getting ready for work in the morning so much easier.
So those are my 10 favorite nouns of the year so far. I promise March’s favorites will be it’s own post and not combined with April’s, and I promise there will be at least three other posts between now and then. See? Accountability. Rock!
