There aren’t a whole lot this month, but as per usual, here’s my random list of favorite things that have consumed my month. It’s always pretty fun compiling these lists, especially when I do a favorite things of the year list based on these posts. And yes, these are numbered, but only because I want you to have a picture to be able to connect them with. They are in no particular order.
1. Lovesick Skinny Jeans
I got these from Poshmark when a seller discounted them, and I realized I got free shipping on my first order back at the end of August. Since I couldn’t find the Lovesick size chart anywhere, I knew I was taking a risk that these wouldn’t find properly, but holy crap they’re my favorite jeans ever. No joke, they’re the perfect size everywhere, and they’re so freaking soft. If you remember from my fall wardrobe wishlist post, I wanted some red jeans so bad, so it just kind of felt like the Universe aligned so I could have these. Now I’m wearing them rolled up until it gets cooler, but fear not: I will be wearing them aaallllllll season long.
2. Shrinky Dinks/Shrink Plastic
All you 80s kids (because there are so many of you here, I’m sure) are probably laughing right now, but hear me out. So, I’ve always known about the coolness of shrink plastic because my mom was such a creator that she dabbled in every medium she could get her hands on, but it wasn’t until recently that I started to really think about the seriously cool things you could make with the stuff. Of course, Pinterest only furthered my intrigue (bordering on obsession) when I really started to think about all the awesome things I could make. Luckily, I already had some sheets from when I was a preschool teacher and we did a Father’s Day craft with them. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on the white, frosted, and printable ones. SO MANY CRAFTING OPTIONS!!
3. 30 Rock
I always am amused when I add a television show to my list of favorites, especially when it’s one that’s been around for a while. Example: Tina Fey’s award-winning comedy, 30 Rock. I remember personally boycotting it when it first came on, because it was what I considered competition for one of my favorite shows, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Honestly, I’m not sure I could have appreciated the humor then anyway. Now I watch it almost every day (thanks, Netflix) and it always puts me in a good mood. Unfortunately, Netflix just announced they’ll be removing it by October 1, so hopefully, by the time this post goes up, I will be done with the series. Otherwise I’m S.O.L.
4. Stranger Things
Another show I’m late to the game on, but binged recently was Netflix’s original series, Stranger Things. OMG, you guys; why did I wait so long to watch this!? It was so freaking good! I can’t wait for Halloween for season 2 to be released and I’ll probably binge it, too, and regret it because who knows when they’ll do a season 3. Oh well, it’s too good to wait.
5. Pumpkin Chili
Oh. Em. Gee. Okay, so, Kristin found this recipe on her Pinterest board when we were trying to figure out what to have for dinner when I last spent the night over there, and we were nervous/skeptical of how this would taste. We bought all the stuff to make it, and it was probably our best decision that whole weekend. It was so dang good. We did modify it a tiny bit, which you can find here, but I have been dreaming of it ever since. If only I could convince Shane to eat it, too.
6. International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer
Not new at all, but the only Pumpkin Spice creamer I’ve ever tried in the past was Coffee Mate, and for some reason I’m just not into it this year. Kristin and I tried the International Delight one the same weekend as our pumpkin chili experiment and I was so pleased. I don’t like that they only have the big bottles, but I’ll probably finish a big bottle of it before I finished a Coffee Mate one.
7. Mrs. Meyers Apple Cider All-Purpose Spray/Dish Soap
I’m not a clean freak. I don’t care too much if there are messes. I have piles of clean and dirty laundry in my bedroom, and I can’t remember when I last vacuumed. I do, however, love to watch cleaning videos on YouTube. It Is so satisfying to watch people clean their houses and apartments, and then it motivates me to get a little done. Because of all the cleaning videos I watch, I obviously get info on new cleaning products. This was one of them. I’ve seen Mrs. Meyers brand in Target plenty of times but never really cared much to buy it. I get all-purpose spray from Trader Joe’s for pretty cheap for a good-sized bottle, so I don’t really bother buying new stuff. Once I heard that they were doing limited edition fall scents, I knew I had to at least try them. I freaking love them. I genuinely enjoy cleaning now and am going through the bottle pretty quickly (though, in my defense, they’re actually pretty small). I even bought an extra bottle of both the spray and the soap in case I run out and they don’t sell it anymore.
8. Clorox Disposable Toilet Wand
Who even am I anymore?! So, because of the aforementioned cleaning videos, I bought these, too. I love that they’re disposable, which just seems so much more sanitary to me. I know in a year or so I’m going to get tired of buying the refills and have serious guilt about how much waste I’m putting in the trash, but for now, they make cleaning my toilet a much more pleasant experience. I mean, as much as cleaning the toilet can be, ya know?
9. Starbucks Grande Cold Cup
I’ve actually only been using this as a water cup for at home for awhile, but recently I finally remembered to bring it with me when I knew I would be hitting up SBUX, and I’m so glad I did. It got me a discount on my iced coffee, and while it’s not super expensive to begin with, it’s nice to save a few cents when I can.
As always, if you have any of these on your list of favorites at all, ever, let me know. I love finding out other people enjoy the things I do. Or, if I suggested something you hadn’t tried yet, let me know in the comments. Also, if there’s something you think I need to know about, leave that in the comments, too!
