My Favorite Places

Do you have that place you go where you just feel relaxed? I’m not talking about home, although that would ideally be the place you go for comfort and relaxation. I mean, the place you go, out of the house, when you need to get away and just get lost in the peace you feel when you’re there.

I’ve got a few and I thought I would share them with you all. Also, I’ve got a little surprise!

Into My Garden Tea Room

I wrote about the tea room on my blog a few years ago – you can read about it in detail here – and no surprise, but it hasn’t stopped being one of my favorite places. It’s just so comforting and the people are the best.

Bookstores

I originally wrote “Barnes and Noble” on my list because I heard someone mention that their husband takes their daughter their once a week to play in the kids area, and it made me think about how much I love and have always loved the bookstore. But then I got to thinking about how much I love all bookstores and how much peace they bring me just by walking around and browsing. I love books and I have such fond memories from my childhood spending so much time in them. Even as an adult I find myself just wanting to go get lunch or dinner and then wander around the bookstore for as long as possible. That’s a full date to me. And it would probably partially explain my love for You’ve Got Mail.

Target

Any time Shane calls me and asks what I’m doing, all I have to do is tell him to take a guess and he immediately responds with, “Target.” I feel like I’m going to get some eyerolls about this one, but I don’t even care. Sometimes all it takes for me to recenter is a stroll around Target and I’m good. I do wish they hadn’t redone the stores because I’m set in my ways and I don’t like change to my favorite places, but that won’t stop me from spending time (and money) at my favorite place.

Coffee Shops

Starbucks is the obvious choice because of the convenience and familiarity factors, but honestly, just give me a coffee shop and I’m happy. Because the Dallas area is as relatively diverse (and surprisingly eclectic), I’ve found that the decor of a coffee shop doesn’t really affect the coziness and comfort I feel while I’m there. And despite some reviews that say otherwise, I’ve yet to visit a coffee shop where I felt anything less than welcome. And if you’re wondering, Pearl Cup in Richardson is still my favorite.

Craft Stores

Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby – oh my! There’s not a craft store around in which I can’t get lost. I don’t mean literally lost – I could probably tell customers where to find something in almost any of those stores and I don’t work at any of them. I just mean that, like bookstores, I get so wrapped up in thought and ideas and excitement that I lose track of time and spend way too long there. There’s always something to be made and always ideas running through my head.

Now to the surprise!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that I just recently hit 1000 followers! Because of that, I thought I would do a little giveaway. YAY!

Of all of my favorite places, tell me in the comments which one is your favorite/the one you’d most love to win a gift card to and why! The giveaway closes on Thursday, August 23rd at 11:59 PM CST, and I will be choosing and announcing a winner at random on Friday, August 24th. If you’d like; you can follow me on Instagram and leave your username with your comment so I can go follow you, too!

Love,
Angel

  1. I can relate to so much of the things on your list. 🙂 I love bookstores, coffee shops, and craft stores too! The gif of the Central Perk coffee shop from Friends made me chuckle. Funny story, I recently went on a free guided tour in Central Park and the tour guide pointed out a fountain that many people mistakenly believe is the same fountain the cast of Friends was playing around in during the opening show credits. The real fountain that was used is actually in California lol.

  2. Crafting is life!!! As a mama to two, I don’t nearly get to spend as much time as I would like to in a craft store. Hello, Michael’s Online Ordering. Lol I was like you before having kids… I could spend hours in a craft store just browsing. 😍😍
